Behind the Scenes of Our J.D. Power Win: What Makes Providence Health Plan #1

21 October 2025

When Providence Health Plan (PHP) was named #1 in member satisfaction among commercial health plans in the Northwest Region by the J.D. Power 2025 U.S. Commercial Member Health Plan Study, it wasn’t just a headline – it was a reflection of the work happening every day behind the scenes.

This recognition is more than a trophy. It’s a testament to the caregivers, leaders, and teams who put members first, every time.

A Member-First Mission, Validated

The J.D. Power study surveyed nearly 40,000 commercial health plan members across the country, measuring satisfaction across eight core dimensions. PHP earned the highest overall satisfaction score in the Northwest Region (which includes Oregon and Washington) ranking #1 in five key areas:

  • Product and coverage offerings

  • Problem resolution

  • People (including representatives and call center agents)

  • Helping save time and money

  • Level of trust

These results reflect what our members already know: Providence Health Plan is committed to delivering compassionate, whole-person care with excellence.

What Sets Us Apart

Our success is rooted in our identity as a nonprofit, provider-aligned health plan with deep roots in the Pacific Northwest. We’re not just a health plan, we’re part of the communities we serve. Our caregivers live and work alongside our members, bringing personal commitment to every interaction.

As President and CEO Don Antonucci put it, “This recognition belongs to every caregiver who puts members and customers first every day. Healthcare is about more than coverage – it’s about caring for the whole person with compassion and excellence”.

More Than a Moment

The J.D. Power award is a milestone, but it’s also a motivator. It reminds us why we do what we do – and why we must keep going.

Whether it’s launching innovative biosimilar programs to improve access and affordability, partnering with the American Heart Association to address cardiovascular health, or volunteering more than 1,000 hours at the Oregon Food Bank, our commitment to community health is unwavering.

We’re proud of this recognition. But we’re even prouder of what it represents: a promise to know our members, care for them, and ease their way every day.

Here are just a few comments from caregivers on why they feel this award recognizes what they’ve seen at PHP:

  • “We know the work we do makes a difference, but to rank #1 in the Northwest was so incredible in affirming that our work is meaningful to the people we serve.”

  • “I was most proud of earning the distinction of #1 in Level of Trust. What an incredible thing to be recognized for in a time when it can be hard to know what to trust.”

  • “This recognition validates our community-first approach and our investment in whole-person care that supports member wellness and convenience.”

  • “This rating isn’t just because of our base work, but I truly believe it’s because of the things we do to show up and actively participating in the communities we serve.”

  • “The way PHP commits to caring for people is award-worthy, so it makes sense!”
