Prioritizing Preventive Care
12 Tháng Sáu 2026
As we move through 2026, taking care of your health remains one of the most important investments you can make. Preventive care can help identify potential health concerns early, support long-term wellness, and give you peace of mind about your health.
Providence Health Plan members continue to have coverage and access to preventive care services throughout 2026. If you've been putting off an annual wellness visit, screening, or recommended immunization, now is a great time to schedule it.
Why preventive care matters
Preventive care helps identify health concerns before they become more serious. Detecting conditions early often leads to better outcomes, more treatment options, and lower healthcare costs.
Regular preventive care can help you stay informed about your health and give you the opportunity to address potential issues before symptoms develop. Your provider can help determine which screenings, tests, and preventive services are right for you based on your age, medical history, and individual health needs.
Preventive services and why they're important
Providence Health Plan members have access to a variety of preventive services designed to support whole-person health.
Blood Pressure Screening
Why it's important: High blood pressure often has no symptoms but can increase the risk of heart disease, stroke, and kidney disease. Regular screenings can help detect concerns early.
Colorectal Cancer Screening
Why it's important: Colorectal cancer is one of the most preventable forms of cancer when detected early. Screening tests can identify precancerous polyps and early-stage cancers before symptoms appear.
Breast Cancer Screening and BRCA Genetic Counseling
Why it's important: Early detection improves treatment outcomes. For individuals with a family history of breast or ovarian cancer, genetic counseling and testing may help identify elevated risk and guide future care decisions.
Mental Health Screenings
Why it's important: Screenings for anxiety, depression, and suicide risk can help identify concerns early and connect individuals with support and treatment resources.
Cholesterol Screening
Why it's important: High cholesterol can contribute to heart disease and stroke. Regular testing helps monitor your cardiovascular health and identify opportunities for prevention.
Type 2 Diabetes Screening
Why it's important: Early detection allows individuals to make lifestyle changes and receive treatment that can help prevent serious complications.
Immunizations
Why it's important: Vaccines help protect against illnesses such as influenza, pneumonia, shingles, and other preventable diseases. Staying up to date on recommended vaccinations is an important part of preventive care.
Lung Cancer Screening
Why it's important: For adults at higher risk, including those with a significant smoking history, annual screenings may help detect lung cancer at an earlier, more treatable stage.
